ive zeolites, SnO and Fe2 (SO4 )3.xH2 O have boon Studied as catalysts for the ederification of substituted benzoic acids with n-butyl alcoholin liquid phase. The results show that the catalytic activity of the fivezeolites for the esterification of benzoic acid is in the order of HZSM-5>HM>HY>SnHM>SnY. With HZSM-5(30) eatalyst, tab effect of p-substitueat of benzoic acid on the esterification was Studied, the results Showthat it is advantageous to eSterification when σ>0, and σ<0 is disadvantageous to the esterification. The catalogiC activity Of SnO and Fe2 (SO4 ) 3xH2O for the esterification of p-hydroxybenzoic acid with n-butanol ishigher than that of concentrated sulfuric acid.
