Objective:The study was designed to observe the relationship between atrial natriuretic peptide (ANP),arginine vasopressin(AVP)and angiotensinⅡ(Ang Ⅱ)in plasma of traumatic brain edema.Meth-ods:By using radioimmunoassay, the contents of ANP,AVP and Ang Ⅱ in plasma as well as the brain water contents were measured in the rats within 7 d following brain injury. Results:The ANP decreased within 6~24 h following injury, but increased significantly within 48~72 h;Ang Ⅱ increased significantly as compared with the normal/or control groups within one week while AVP increased significantly only 24 h after brain in-jury.The brain water contents increased significantly within 72 h after injury and then gradually decreased to normal level after one week. Conclusions:The results suggested that the development of traumatic brain ede-ma might be related to the changes of ANP,AVP and Ang Ⅱ in plasma.
