摘要
概述了城域网的基本概念，论述了城域网产生的主要原因，介绍了城域网的研究和应用情况，最后对在我国如何发展城域网提出了一些建议。
This paper outlines the basic concept of metropolitan area networks,discusses some main reasonsfor development MANs,introduces the stutus of reseach and application to MANs. Finally, some sugges-tions for development MANs in our country has been put forward.
