Abstract Diagnosis of the female: Hystrichopsylla (Hystroceras) shaanxiensis Zhang et Yu, 1990 is similar to H. (H.) ozeana Nakagawa et Sakaguti, 1959 and H. (H.) microti Scalon, 1950.It didn from the former saaes in the apical margin of st.VII with a lower bltmt process and more lateral bristles (5 - 9 in the main row and 12-19 in front of main row)on st. VII; It didn from the latter species in the posterior margin of the dorsal lobe of the st. VII hong slightly convex backwarded and with a relatively shallow sinus below the convex.Specimens examined: 6 males and 5 females ex Apodemus speciosus; 2 males ex Ocholona thibetana; 1 male ex Anourosorex squamipes; 2 females ex Eothenomys eva. All specimens were collected from Shennongjia forest region (31 15′- 31 °57′N, 109° 56′- 110° 58′E and 1, 870 -2,930 m), Morthwest of Hubei Province in June, July and Sept. 1990 respectively.
