The main characteristics and performance of the first external heat-removal system with steam-water spontaneous cycling in the regenerator of a FCC unit were expounded in this article. This system not only reduced the capital expenditure of equipment and the operation cost, but also avoided the harmful effect on operation caused by pump failure and similar incidents.
