Direct epoxidation of ethene in the exit gas generated by oxidative coupling of methane(OCM) has been investigated over supported silver catalyst.A process was designed to avoid the effects of carbon dioxide and hydrogen in the exit gas of OCM on ethene epoxidation.Carbon dioxide was adsorbed with soda-asbestos,ppm levels of 1,2-dichloroethane(DCE)and partial oxygen were added,then fed into the reactor. Direct epoxidation of ethene in the exit gas of OCM using this process can be carried out successfully. The conversion of ethene and selectivity to ethylene oxide were maintained at the level of 67 and 70%,respectively,whether the cofeed gas of OCM was methane and oxygen or methane and air.
