The pH effect of photouptake of O_2 on CdS and Pt/CdS was investigated. The resultindicates that there are two types of mechanism for O_2 photouptake aqueous dispersionsof CdS and Pt/CdS. In acidic condition,O_2 photouptake proceeds continuously and canbe described with 1st order rate equation. In basic condition,O_2 photouptake ceaises afterhalf an hour irradiation,which is illustrated by following equations:Then,the surface of CdS is covered by Cd (OH)_2 and the O_2 uptake is hindered.
