The mechanisms of the short glass fiber toughened R-PVC, based on the sample broken section were analysed by the SEM. The influences of different toughening agents on the composite properties have been studied. Results showed that the toughening of the short glass fiber were well explained by the proposed model put forwarded in the paper, and the experimental phenomena of different toughening agents on the composite may be illustrated.
