Differencial scanning calorimetry (DSC) was uest as a means to visulize the exothermal process in grafting dibutyl maleate moeities onto polyethylene in reactive processing. Residence time of the reactantS in a screw extruder was measured and thus a method of determining reactive extrusion time is proposed.
