In this paper the background of development and the current status,as well as the existing problems of Enhanced TY in Europe and Japan have been described,a proposal for development of Chinese Enhanced TV has been given. The paper also has analyzed the important factors,which should be considered in determination of HDTV system parameters and standards.Furthermore, the strategy of the development of the HDTV in China bas been md nced.
