The global seismicity during the first quarter of the year 1994 was of medium level. Altogether three shallow earthquakes of magnitude 7 or over occurred within the three months, a large deep earthquake occurred on the Peru-Bolivia boundary. A strong earthquake occurred again in Chlifornia, USA. The seismicity on the Oceanic Isand Arc seismic belts between the Pacific and Indian Oceans was active during this quarter. Three earthquakes of magnitude 6 or over occurred in Iran.
