he yellow River,5464 Kilometers long,is the second largest river in China. The runoff volumes at the hydrologic stations are not sychronous. The problem for us to solve is to se-lect well representative typical years and typical series. The method for selecting the typical years and typical series is intruduced and a general program is compiled. An example is giv-en,which shows that the program is resonable and feasible.It can not only help avoid the subjective and complicated calculation in the selection of the typical years and typical series but also make the optimal results representative and reliable.
