History of the Discovery and the Utilization of Antique Jadewares in Hunan

从考古论证自商周以来玉器制品传入湖南，到春秋战国时期玉器已用于礼器了，制作已达到成熟阶段，到西汉时玉器用于装饰品已经达到十分精美的程度了，价值连城的“和氏壁”来自楚地有可能就是当今湖南。湖南宝玉石资源丰富多彩，有待开发发展。

Based on the archeological finds it is clear that jadewares have been introduced into Hunan since Shang and Zhou Dynasties.During the period of'Spring and Autumn'and the warring States jadewares were used already for ceremony or as something of etiquette. The skill or the craftsmanship for making jadewares at that time reached to a high stage of rnaturity.In western Han Dynasty the decorative jadewares were prevailing because of their exquisiteness and elegance.A famouq and invaluable jade plaque,the'Heshibi' ,originated from the State of Chu,a place that may be the present Hunan province and a place where there exists an affluent vari-ety of precious stones and jades.We are waiting in hope that these important resources will soon be exploited and be turned into economic benefit.
