This paper analyzes the 'impedance mismatching'between the databases and programming languages,and the various approaches to eliminating it. It' s pointed out that Object Orientation is now acting as the catalyst or database/language intergration.since it provides a unified type model for databases and programming languages and other features in which both are commonly interested. Nevertheless the intergration of databases and programming languages is confronted with the culture clash between the two,that leads to many difficulties in designing a database/language integrated system.
