摘要
本文回顾了日本、西欧及美国高清晰度电视（HDTV）和全数字HDTV的发展简史和特点，简要介绍了中国HDTV研究的进展和设想，指出中国应积极发展兼容的全数字HDTV。
The paper briefly reviews the history of the developement and characteristic of HDTV in Japan. Western Europe and U.S. A. and then it introduces the progresses of HDTV technical research projects and its further envisage, and proposed the development of full digital compatible HDTV in China.
