Abstract To differentiate owned-by-society from general public ownership (owned by the public)and point out that the essential nature of socialist ownership is ownedby-society are the important contributions made by Marxist economist Yu Guangyuan in the theoretical research of socialist ownership.The writer introduces Yu Guangyuan's viewpoint of 'owned-by-society' and its theoretical merits and proposes his own recognitions and opinions,consulting with Yu Guangyuan's point of view.
