Abstract The evaluation of mediastinal lesions is one of the interest challenges in chest radiology.This article will discuss the general principles of evaluations of mediastional lesions.The major role fot MR imasing is as a problem-solving tool when plain chest films,tomography and CT are inadequate or if there are unanswered questions.Therefore it is used as a supplement in the diagnosis of mediastinal lesions.M R imaging has excellent soft tissue and soft tissue-to- vessel contrast.T umor can be easily differentated from mediastinal fat on TI weishted image.It is also very useful in assessins vascular involvement,identifying cystic lesions,evaluating mass-vascular relationships and relationships of neurogenic lesions to the spinal canal and spinal cord.Sagital and coronal planes provide further optimal delineation of the lesions.ECG-gating technique is very usful to obtain images of better quality.
