Thinning a roller boring collar and increasing its roller diametsr can greatly enhance thebearing's capacity and prolong its service life. This paper analysis the influences of thinning the collar on the bearing,the whole and local deformation of the collar,as well as the resultant beading moment and stress in the collar,and furthermore advances a calculating method of the collar strengthand limitation to thinning the collar.
