Their are 20 species of paederus capable of causing dermatitis linearis described in the world. The paper offers an index to the chinese species and their distribution, proportion of the female to the sum total, the law of the adults' occuring by light attraetion at night and the size of the body. The paederus are beneficial to agriculture owing to their predation on numerous insects and pests, and their toxin is important in cancer research and cellular biology. Although these beetles can cause dermatitis linearis, the epidemics can be mitigated by simple precautions.
