Abstract Switzerland is a nation who always emphasizes the forest utilization.Although the new forest law protnulgated in 1993 acnowledges that the forest protectivefunction has special importance, yet it assumes that the disaster prevention, recreationand wood production are of equal importance. Some years ago Switzerland began to talkabout how its forestry could be out of difficulty. The general opinion is that the forest'sprotective function and recreational value are the conditions necessary to tourism, whilepromotion of management level and ausmentation of wood production are requirementsto the improvement of forest structure, readjustment of stand age distribution, enforc-ins the forest regeneration and increasins the stand density- Therefore, tourism mustsupport the forestry, and cannot be a parasite on forest only. They are interrelated in co-existence and share common prosperity.
