Abstract A class of second-order quasimonotone schemes using FDS (flux-difference-splitting) methods is constructed. The schemes are total variation diminishing (TVD)in the case of one dimension, while they are second-order accurate in the case of two or three dimensions. Numerical experiments show that the schemes give no significant spurious oscillations near shocks. The shocks are highly resolved.
