A photoelectric radial-velocity spectrometer has been constructed for the Cassegrain focus of the 85 cm reflector at Beijing Astronomical Observatory.The design of this instrument is described,including its optics-mechanical and electronic structure.The instrument consists of two channels,of which one is for radial velocity measurement and the other for photometry so that we can obtain the radial velocity and the phometric curve of the star at the same time.The use of a fibre-feed between the telescope and echelle spectrograph has enabled a stability of the system.Observations of ten IAU radial velocity standard stars were carried out and results are given to show the character of the dip for a variety of spectral type.Their RMS is less than ±0.34 km/s.
