The current hospital information system (HIS), especially hospital organization, personnel structure, professional description, information characteristics and communication conditions, was analyzed. The existent problems were put forward. The whole design schemes of system were introduced. The design goals, principles, design constraints and coding principles were summarized. The function design of target system was expounded in detail. The application platform and development environment of database were chosen. The design for network environment of hardware, whole scheme of network environment, and detailed design were described. The key techniques involved in oriented object technique, uniform modeling language, three-layer client/sever structure were introduced. Development technique of application software based on three-layer structure was discussed.
