社会分层是中国社会学的核心概念, 社会学界开展的社会阶层结构变迁和扩大中等收入者比重的研究,其目的就是要揭示社会主义初级阶段的经济社会关系及其内在联系,正确认识社会各阶层的地位特点及相互关系和发展趋势, 引导目前尚不稳定的社会形态向稳定成熟的和谐社会形态转变。

Social layering is the core concept of the Chinese sociology. The aim of the research of the structural change of the social stratum and of the expansion of the proportion of medium income groups in the field of sociology is to expose the social and economic relationship and its internal relations on the initial stage of socialism, to know correctly the status characteristic of the whole social stratum and its correlations and development trend, and to lead the unsteady social formation to turn to a steady, mature and harmonious one.
