许渊冲、汪榕培英译古诗比较分析

A Comparison and Analysis of the English Translations of Some Classic Chinese Poems Translated by X.Y.Z. and WANG Rong-pei

本文比较分析了当代著名翻译家许渊冲和汪榕培译成英语的几首中国古诗 ,看出 ( 1 )汪译与许译在某些地方相似 ,大家所见略同 ;( 2 )许采用直译的地方 ,汪采用意译 ;( 3)许采用意译的地方 ,汪采用直译 ;( 4 )两种译文是译者从不同角度对原诗的理解和阐释 ,互为补充 ,但都有些不尽人意之处 ,笔者希望今后还有更新更好的译文出现。

The English translations of some classic Chinese poems translated by X.Y.Z. and Wang Rongpei, the famous translators today in China, are compared and analyzed, which shows, (1) Some of Wang's translations are similar to Xu's. Great scholars have the same or similar ideas. (2) Where Xu translated literally, Wang translated liberally. (3) Where Xu translated liberally, Wang translated literally. (4) The two translations are the translators' own understanding and interpretation of the original poems, supplementary to each other. But both have some dissatisfactory points. New and better translations are expected.
