On Confucius “Benevolence Means to Love Others”

“仁者爱人”是孔子伦理学思想体系的核心命题之一。它既是氏族血亲之爱自然情感的遗留 ,又是维系社会人际关系的普遍存在的道德义务和责任。它强调个人对他人、对社会自觉地履行道德义务和责任 ,讲求“克己”的无私奉献精神。同时 ,“仁者爱人”是人的一种本性 ,“爱人”的内驱力来自于人自身 ,“爱人”的行为是此本性的外化。

It is an important theory in Confucius ethics that benevolence means to love others. It could be considered as the remaining love of clan society between blood relationship and natural emotions, and it is considered as universal ethics among peoples. It emphasizes that individual must carry out ethics duties conscientiously to others, and asks a wholehearted devotion gist of offering selflessly. At the same time, it is human being's natural character, and the internal strength to love others comes from people themselves. The act to love others is the expression of the natural character.
