The Bohai state was a state in the rein of the Tang Dynasty. The Gao family in the state was the second largest one after the royal family. Many Gao family members were officials in the Tang government. The Gao family intermarried the prominent families of the mid country for its self interest and development, which strengthened the unity and understanding of nationalities and promoted the prosperity of the Tang Empire.
