Diphenylmethane diisocyanates(MDI) is an important material used for manufacturing polyurethanes. The advances in the routes to synthesize MDI are reviewed, putting emphasis upon discussing the clean synthesis methods of diphenylmethane diisocyanates by the catalytic cleavage of diphenylmethane dicarbamic acid esters (MDC).
