Sartre's Theory on Values of Life

萨特认为自由是人的本质 ,任何东西都不能真正限制和束缚住人。作为自由的人 ,是在不断地自由创造和选择中拥有自己的本质和价值的 ,人生的过程是一个不断地实现自我和超越自我的过程 ,只要生命不止 ,就存在着改变和重塑自我的可能。人的自由是在具体境遇中的选择和行动的自由 ,这种自由的根本在于人选择的自主性 ,自我的一切归根结底取决于自己 ,自我应对自己的行为及其后果负责。人生的价值是在人的自由、选择、创造。

In Sartre's opinion, freedom is man's nature, and virtually man won't be limited or bonded by anything. As a free man, he owns his nature and values from the continuous process of free creation and choice, for life is a course in which one is to realize himself and surpass himself. Only if man is alive, there is possibility for self-reformation. Man's freedom means the freedom of choosing and acting in certain situation, whose root is the self-determination. Every result or consequence depends on one's own choice with his awareness of responsibility. Values of life embody in the course of man's freedom, choice, creation, surpassing and responsibility.
