民办高校非英语专业大学生英语学习现状调查

A Survey of English Learning Situation Among Non-English Majors in Non-Governmental Colleges

本文以问卷调查的形式,通过描述性统计和定量分析,对民办院校非英语专业本科生的英语学习状况进行了调查研究.调查内容主要包括:受试对象的自我评价、学习目的和动机、最希望掌握的英语技能和英语学习的难点;受试对象在课堂内外的学习情况;受试对象对民办高校英语教学的评价.结果发现:民办高校非英语专业大学生的整体英语学习状况不容乐观;教学模式和计划的单一导致教学效果不佳;教师的严重短缺极大地制约了教学质量的提高.本文在调查分析结果的基础上,对民办高校非英语专业教学提出了一些改进建议.

This paper makes a survey and investigation on the English learning situation among Non-English Majors in Non-Governmental Colleges by means of the descriptive statistics and qualitative analysis. The survey was conducted among students with the aim to investigate: the students’ self-assessment, motivation, the most important and most difficult aspect in learning English; In and Outside classroom learning situation; the students’ views on English teaching in Non-Governmental Colleges. The results are:the overall learning situation among Non-English Majors in Non-Governmental Colleges is not satisfactory; the teaching mode and plan for English teaching is far from perfect and should be reformed;the shortage of qualified teachers has seriously hampered the improvement of English teaching. Based on the above results, the paper further proposes several suggestions on improving English Teaching in Non-Governmental Colleges.
