“等值”理论再阐释与文学翻译

A Reinterpretation of the Notion of Equivalence and its Value in Literary Translation

纵观中外,对翻译的定义与标准的界定和论述往往以“等值”为先。但这一理论却遭到我国许多学者的反对,认为“等值”是不可能的,不切合实际和不可企及的。笔者认为对“等值”问题的认识不应只停留在传统的观念上,在翻译事业蒸蒸日上的历史时期,应重新认识“等值”学说,并赋予合乎时代要求的新阐释。文章就这一问题以及文学翻译的等值问题作粗浅的探讨。

In exploring the criteria of translation,equivalence is the main focus,but the notion of equivalence has been objected to by some Chinese scholars who regard it as impossible,impractical and hard to achieve in E-C translation.This is due to the limitation of the traditional viewpoint.In this article the writer argues that it should be reinterpreted and redefined in the new booming history of translation.It can still serve as an effective guideline in our practice especially in the translation of English literary works.
