Thematic Progression as a Functional Resource in Analyzing Texts

摘要 主位和述位的概念对探讨主位选择对语篇功能的解释作用有重要意义。检验主位推进模式在分析语篇中的适用性,主位推进模式可以用来分析语篇和指导语篇的写作。 This paper first introduces the concepts of theme and rheme. Then it explains function of the text in virtue of theme choice, and with it to test the applicability of thematic progression in text analysis. It is pointed out that thematic progression pattern can be used to analyze the text and to provide a guidance for writing.
