Humble Opinion on the Debate between Chen-liang and Zhu-xi

南宋淳熙年间,永康学派代表陈亮与理学大师朱熹就义利王霸问题以书信往来方式进行了三年之久的辩论。朱熹看重行为的动机是否出于道德,以此析分义和利、王和霸。而陈亮重视实际效果并试图将义和利、王和霸统一。

In the period of Chunxi,the South Song Dynasty,Chen Liang,the representative of Yongkang Sect argued with Zhu xi, a grand master of Lixue Sect on the '义利王霸'.They had debated for three years by means of letters. Zhu valued the cause of behavior while Chen highlighted the effect.
