摘要
万维网地理信息系统 (Web GIS)是在 Internet或 Intranet网络环境下的一种兼容、存储、处理、分析和显示与应用地理信息的计算机信息系统 .文中通过应用程序实例——武汉 Web GIS,分析了基于 Map Xtreme中间件的 Web GIS应用开发及其体系结构特点、地图数据组织方式、基本原理和实现过程 .
WebGIS is a specialized form of an information system in the condition of Internet or Intranent. In the strictest sense, it is a computer system capable of assembling, storing, manipulating, and displaying geographically-referenced information in a relational database, i.e. data identified according to their locations. it is hotspot of GIS nowadays, and become the focus of the competition in the many GIS company. the paper analysis the software structure and characteristics of representative WebGIS platform ,that is MapXtreme. Besides, it show the merit of the software structure of the MapXtreme.To explain the application of MapXtreme ,it presented the concrete sample of practical running in wuhan WebGIS to analysis in details the application development of WebGIS based on MapXtreme middleware,including the introduce to the Wuhan WebGIS,the definition of Map,the main theory and structure of the WebGIS system and so on.
