Around the time when China entered the WTO, in order to meet the demands of the market, most of the domestic universities began to set up the specialty of International Trade, taking it for granted that there would be a great need for graduates in this field. However, nearly three years has gone by so far since China's accession to the WTO and the number of the international-trade majors needed in the job market has far from been as huge as expected. And it is also found that most of the graduates of this specialty are not engaged in international business at all. This phenomenon seems to be a paradox. On the one hand it reflects the blindly optimistic estimation of supply and demand in the job market; on the other hand it also exposes the shortcomings in academic teaching and field training in school. So it is increasingly important for the college to pay close attention to bilingual teaching, simulative or experimental training, and fieldwork training as well as traditional academic training.
