An Analysis of Zeng Jize's Thought of Strengthening China by Adopting Western Learning

曾纪泽是中国近代社会杰出的爱国外交家,是走出国门在外交实践中探求西学以谋强国的少数优秀中国人。他提出的中国当“采西学必强”,“中国不能闭门而不纳,束手而不问”的主张,对近代中国社会的变革是有其积极意义的。

Zeng Jize, an outstanding patriotic diplomat in Qing Dynasty, is among the few excellent Chinese who went abroad to look for a way to make China powerful in the diplomatic practice. He put forward that Chinese should 'build up the strength by adopting Western Learning', and 'China shouldn't shut the door and ignore Western Learning'. The assertion has its positive influence on the social reform of modern China.
