摘要
本文拟通过韩礼德和哈桑(Halliday & Hasan)的衔接理论探讨衔接手段在语篇构建中所起的重要作用,采用语言学中 的统计方法,对120名非英语专业大二本科生英语习作中的高质量作文与低质量作文就语篇衔接特点进行了比较分析。此项研 究基于如下假设:高质量作文中的词汇衔接与语法衔接手段的频度分布(frequency distribution)比次低质量作文要高。目的是指 出什么类型的衔接手段有利于产生高质量作文,结果是假设得以验证。
Based on the cohesive theory of Halliday & Hasan, the essay makes an analysis of the function of cohesive ties in English writing and an investigation is also carried out by using linguistic statistic methods to compare the features of textual cohesion between the good and poor compositions written by 120 non-English majors of Chinese college sophomores. It is hypothesized that frequency distribution of both grammatical and lexical cohesion is much higher in good composition than that in poor ones. The purpose is to find out the devices of the cohesive devices that contribute most to good writing. The hypothesis is tested and continued.
