The way of living and life-style of Suzhou citizens tend to be artistic, as a result of which their art and daily life begin to merge into one organic whole. The intelligence and exquisiteness of their cultural character find expression in their artistic creations. Such a unique cultural character offers a sure foothold for the connotation of cultured Suzhou. So-called cultured Suzhou, a cultural strategy developed in accordance with the economic and cultural integration and globalization and with the transitional stage of the Chinese culture, consists mainly of the following aspects: (1) pushing forward the process of urban culture, developing core industries in harmony with the local cultural character, which should be retained during the process of urbanization and modernization; (2)obtaining an image of'cultured Suzhou' in cultural exchanges; (3)speeding up the contemporary cultural construction; (4)promoting the industry of culture.
