胃肠双重造影的特殊价值，在于能观察胃肠组织的微细解剖结构，并可发现早期病变，如早期胃癌及微小溃疡等。但所用钡剂质量要求较高，其具体指标要求：
Double contrast examination is an important means for making diagnosis of gastric diseases, especially for that of gastric cancer and ulcer in their early stage. But at Present, there is a great deficiency of radiooaque product for making double contrast examination in china.A diagnostic radiooaque product called 'PS Type Barium Sulfate Preparation' has been made in our laboratory by using sulfated polysa-ccharide derived from brown algae as the stabilizes of the barium medium prepared from this product.The product meets all the requirements of barium sulfate preparation used for double contrast examination.The barium medium prepared from this product has a lower viscosity of various concentrations, ranged from 80 to 200% (w/v), in comparison with those prepaed from a Japan-made product 'Barytgen de Luxe' and a product made in'shanghai Barium Sulfate medium Type i'at corresponding concentration. At a concentration of 120%(w/v)s the viscosity of the barium medium is about 20 cp. Almost all the barium sulfate particles in the medium are very small, less than 2um The variation of PH the barium medium, from 1 to 14, has no significant effect in it's viscosity, when the medium is mixed with an equal volume of gastric juice, agglutination does not occur. Other properties of the product are also comparable with that of 'Barytgen de Luxe' and 'Shanghai Barium Sulfate Medium Type I'. 486 patients have been examined by seven hospitals in making double contrast examination of stomach, 64.28-73.80% are marked 'Excellent'; 89.14-94.44% show the stomach contour clearly and 44.0-69.9% have the grooves and small areas f the stomach clearly shown. The results obtained from clinical tests demonstrate that the quality of the 'PS Type Barium Surfate Preparation' is high and can be satisfactorily used in making double contrast examinations.It is worth to mention that the 'PS type Barium Sulfate Preparation' will alse produce excellent photographies with a 200 mA X-ray apparatus. 67% of the photographies taken with such type of X-ray apparatus are marked 'excellent'. It is shown that the 'PS Type Barium Sulfate Preparation' is also applicable to county hospitals.
