海岸泻湖和三角洲一样都位于海陆之间过渡的海岸地带，但泻湖是平行海岸延伸的水体，它以砂坝或障壁岛与外海相隔开，并经潮流(汐)通道与它相连接，海(湖)水和沉积物质在潮流的帮助下或进入泻湖，或流入外海。因此，泻湖沉积就属于这种环境下的一种特殊的沉积。
The coastal lagoon of Shidao Bay is situated in the south part ol Jiao-Liao Shield. The Quaternary is quite developing in this area.The lagoonal sediments is clitellum, except the in-let. It may be considered as a common lagoonal sedimentary model and is quite different from the ideal lake sedimentary model.The transportation forms of the lagoonal sediments mainly are su spended and leap, while the rolling transportation looks small. From the margin of the lagoon to the center the bulk of the sediments gradually become thin grain from the thick and the sorting gradually becomes no good too.The thick sediments of the lagoon mainly come from the sand bar, but the thin sediments come from lagoonal shore and near small streams. This point has been proved in distributive property of the gravel i-sand/clay and silt/clay.Each grain size parameter in the lagoon sediments has its own cha racteristic, it is defferent from both parameter of estuary littoral sedi ments and open-sea littoral sediments. There are more then 20 kinds of the heavy mineral in the lagoon sediments, but among them zircon attra cts attention. They are pointedness or semi-pointedness and concen irate on lagoon margin and swamp as the higher -grade. While exploiting this sand deposit, we inuai pay attention to the above prospective area.
