潮流的变化性较潮位要复杂得多。尽管人们多年来一直对它进行观测和研究，但潮流中的许多现象至今仍未得到正确的解释。潮流旋转中的“倒转现象”就是其中之一。所谓倒转现象，就是潮流的旋转方向在一段时间里逆着原来的旋转方向(顺时针或逆时针方向)而旋转，然后再恢复到原来的旋转方向。这种现象在海洋里是经常发生的。
The reversion of tidal current rotating is studied,the results obtained being written in analytical form.It is found that such a phenomenon depends on the behavior of both residual current and current constituents. The criterion of its occu-rence is given. For the area dominated by semi-diurnal current, the formulas are derived for determining the starting and ending moments of reversion, the minimum magnitude of residual current permitting its occurrence after the current direction being given, and the most favourable direction to the phenomenon. In the case of mixed tidal current, a time parameter indicating the existence of the phenomenon can be obtained by solving a cubic algebraic equation. Some examples are given to illustrate the actual reversion of tidal current rotating according to the formulas obtained in the paper.
