摘要
山东海洋学院是1959年3月30日建立的一所以海洋学科为主的理工科高等学校，担负着培养海洋科技人才和发展海洋科学技术的任务。建院初期，全院只有两个系五个专业，教职工二百八十五人，在校学生四百八十一人，图书九万余册，仪器设备较少。
Shandong College of Oceanology was founded on March 30, 1959. At its beginning the College only had two departments and about four hundred students. During the last twenty-five years great changes have taken place in the college .Now it has nine departments.Department of Physical oceanology and Marine meteorology, Department of Marine Physics,Department of Marine chemistry, Department of Marine Biology, Department of Marine Geology, Departmet of Fisheries, Department of Mathematics,Department of Ocean Engineering and Department of Foreign Language. Besides,there are four research institutes. Institute of Physical oceanology, Institute of Estuary and Coast Zone, Laboratory of Genetics and Micro-Algae Culture center. And the College Possesses a research ship(2500 ton).In addition to 577 acadenic staff, there are 1858 students and 95 post graduates. Since 1959 the College has trained over 5000 students, completed a series and a large number of research projects in marine science.
