This article deals with the application of the HISS to researching the formation of image in scanning sonar.The signal processing formula is derived anew from the dual focusing.Analogous calculations have been done with regard to the three situations in which there are different array lengths and different element numbers.At first,basing on imaginary targets,the hologram martrix elements were calculated and were regarded as the analogous values in the measurement.Then we got the scattered wave strength of different positions from signal processing.It is clear from these calculations that the dual focusing sonar has a high range resolution for direction in short distance.
