An institutional repository is a collection of all members' intelligent works of an institu- tion.It exists as a complementary of traditional scholarly communication.The paper interpreted what is institutional repository,analyzed the role which an institutional repository should play in e-Science envi- ronment,discussed how to build an institutional repository in e-Science environment,and introduced some softwares and platforms to set up it.
