本文探讨了英语中taboo一词的由来,分析比较了英汉语中种种禁忌语表现,归纳了禁忌语作为一种普遍的语言现象,在英汉语中所具有的共同特征,并从语用学的角度阐述了在跨文化交际中对于禁忌语的使用和理解应该注意的问题。

This paper discusses the origin of the word “taboo”, compares and contrasts taboos in both English and Chinese, analyzes some similarities and differences of English and Chinese taboos. The last part of the paper focuses on some pragmatic problems in understanding and using taboos in cross-cultural communication.
