A Comparison on Ugliness between Chinese and Western Aesthetica Culture

“丑”是中西方审美文化都有的重要审美范畴,但在中西方审美文化中存在着明显的差异,主要体现在关切重心不同,价值取向相异,以及在各自的艺术和审美文化中所占的地位和所起的作用有别。这些差异对各自文化之审美倾向、审美价值和艺术形态产生了重要影响。

Ugliness', one of the most significant aesthetic categories, exists both in the Chinese Aesthetica Culture and Western Aesthetica Culture. What's more, the cultures vary from each other in the roles that Ugliness plays in arts and Aesthetica Culture. The differences affect greatly on the aesthetica trend, aesthetica value and the art forms in both cultures.
