The 4th period transition metals were added respectively to Fe_2O_3-K_2Ocatalysts and the resuiting effects on cataytic activity and selectivity were studied A vol-cano-shaped relationship was obtained by plotting the specific activity values(r_s)of everycatalysts for styrene formation against the electronegaivities (Xp)of the transition metals. added.The volcano-shaped relaionship was also found between the specific activities fortoluene formation(r_T)and Xp. But,no such relationship was seen in r_B-Xp and selectivityfor styrene formation-XP.
