The scavenging effect of isoverbascoside on superoxide anion radical()was investigated in vitro in chemiluminescence experiments.Isoverbascoside(10～40μmol/L)could remarkably scavenge in hypoxathine/xanthine oxidase(HX-XO) system.Incubation of mouse erythrocyte membranes with H_2O_2 resulted in a loss of-SH groups.Anaddition of isoverbascosids(5～20 μmol/L)into the incubation mixture effectively reducedthe loss of -SH groups.The results further suggested that isoverbascoside had an antioxida-tion activlty.
