The digital times poses challenges to the archives construction of institutions of higher learning. It is imperative to utilize information technology to construct the digital archives, which is about to change the traditional way to manage archives, improve the efficiency of using archives and broaden the service of archives. This paper conducts an initial investigation into the connotation, characteristics, merits and defects of the digital construction for institutions of higher learning.
