摘要
语言的模糊性是语言的本质特征,低调陈述作为一种语言修辞也不可避免具有模糊性,本文力图从模糊语言学的相关理论来探讨对英语低调陈述的理解,并对使用模糊语言进行低调表达的手段和方法进行了分析。
Vagueness is one of the innate natures of language. And understatement, as a rhetorical device is without exception to the rule. This paper endeavors to approach English understatement from the relevant theories of Vague Language and make an analysis of the ways to downplay expressions via fuzziness of language.
